Course description
MODULE 1: Economic analysis of different business choices and the company’s financial planning
The learning focuses on how the business model and the company are reflected in the financial reporting and how shareholders and lenders judge the company’s performance on the basis of this information. This also includes understanding what it costs to finance the company’s assets and the implications of this for the company’s financial targets. The key question is what level of profitability is required if shareholders and lenders are not to lose faith in the business.
MODULE 2: Design of financial control
The learning focuses on developing the ability to influence the design of different organisational control mechanisms. This includes training in the ways reporting and calculation can be used to address various conflicting goals, such as prioritising between volume growth and profit margins. The importance of being able to handle this is emphasised in the learning as it makes it easier for employees and managers to take financially sustainable decisions in the company.
MODULE 3: Design of a business case in conjunction with a business or process development project
The learning focuses on working independently in a group to create a financially supported business case for an external client in a business or process development project. The work includes defining the target effect for a project in profitability and operational terms, and evaluating the financial implications and risks to the client of possible solutions.

Reference framework for qualifications SeQF
This certificate is one of four that together constitute the “Business Executive Degree”.
In 2018, the examination title “Business Executive Degree” was placed at SeQF 6 level. The learning outcome is equivalent to that obtained via statutory university studies within the subject area of “Business Development”. SeQF is the Swedish equivalent of the European Qualification Framework (EQF) for lifelong learning.
The purpose of the framework is to facilitate comparisons between examination titles and qualifications in different countries and between different education systems within Europe.
The position within the SeQF is sanctioned by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education. IHM Business School is the first private business school in Sweden to be granted SeQF 6 level for an examination title outside the statutory education system.
