Course description
MODULE 1: How is the company performing today? – Current situation
The learning focuses on understanding, describing and analysing a company’s business model and how it generates profitability. What characterises the organisation and what distinguishes it from others. What makes it more or less successful. The aim is to train the ability to produce a current situation analysis.
MODULE 2*: What is the company’s business challenge? – The gap between current situation and target situation
The learning focuses on how the company chooses the future business opportunities that are to shape the company and its business model. Changes in the world around us mean that a company with many products and business areas must repeatedly assess which of these should be prioritised, retained or phased out. The learning also includes an understanding of what a management team can do to steer the organisation towards high performance.
MODULE 3: Business decision-making
The learning focuses on business decision-making, independently and in a group. The individual work involves producing an analysis of the current situation in a company chosen by the student. The group work involves running a company simulation in a dynamic and changeable business environment where results have to be interpreted and the strategy reviewed. The learning includes defining a business strategy, and measuring and monitoring progress with the aid of various indicators and market and results reports.
Scope:
The course covers approximately 400 hours of which approximately 100 hours are teacher-led. The remainder includes time for private study (recommended time or more) and examinations.
